Long Time No See
Heidi was a lovely "Japanese Girl" for Halloween this year. My darling daughter disappeared wearing jeans and a long sleeved shirt, then reappeared in her Halloween costume. I asked if she was wearing clothes underneath because it was going to be cold, and she assured me that she was dressed under the costume. It was so cold outside while trick-or-treating, that Eric and I gave up early, followed by Jack shortly after, and the older kids (driven by their love of candy) pressed on into the night with Ron. Heidi returned home pink cheeked and frozen, and began inspecting her haul. When she stripped off her costume, I discovered she was wearing a little tank top and a mini skirt underneath. Ron's comment was, "Well, she is your daughter..."
Halloween night, Clyde refused to be photographed, so here he is at his school's annual Halloween parade. There would be a Halloween parade pic of Heidi too, but it ended up being a blurred shot of the back of her costume as she zipped away. Clyde's costume ripped open to reveal a molded plastic Superman chest, but he left it closed for most of the parade and just looked like a computer geek or something.
Jack insisted on being a character from his favorite kids' show, but the official licensed costume was a tissue thin one piece shorts ensemble with short sleeves. I found these official licensed pajamas on Ebay and bought them instead.
Eric, like the other kids, inherited my insatiable sweet tooth, and throroughly enjoyed Halloween. He dove into his trick-or-treating booty and began what would be his biggest sugar rush to date. My efforts to take a decent picture of him were thwarted, as he charged at the camera everytime I aimed it at him.
Another shot of the little booger. He was so cute in that costume that I had to add another picture.
I went nuts this year, and set up a cemetery in our front yard. There were ancient looking gothic tombstones, a "rusted" chain gate, and jack-o-lantern luminaries under the weeping red Japanese maple tree. We set up the kids' pumpkins around the graveyard and lit it all up. I took a shot without the flash. It's dark, but it looks much better than the bright-as-day image that I got with the flash.
Not a Halloween picture, but one that I can't help wanting to show everyone. The boys are bonding! My turn on the computer is over (there's a line forming behing me), so I will cut this short with the familiar promise of "more to come".
